Here’s a note from resident Cary Welch regarding accessing the Richardson Echo online:
The Richardson Echo is now on line, to log on click on this Link enter your library card number then click on the link “The Historical Dallas morning News “ then click on the tab “News Paper Titles” then click on the tab “Richardson Echo” and it will show you the years and days that you can look at, I downloaded December 19, 1930 and was reading through it, it is interesting to me, seeing what some of the kids wrote in to Santa Claus asking for. I find it works better for me to download the whole paper for the day ( it was only eight pages ) and then read through it.
If anyone has any questions on how to access it, I think Stacy Davis at the library would be willing to help them or they can email me and I can help them.
I am hoping in the future that we can get a lot if not all of our Historical info for Richardson on line.
The Heights Park N.A. Newsletters have been printed and will be distributed beginning the weekend of January 9th. Please watch for them on your doorstep. There’s information there about our January 21st General Meeting where our featured speaker will be Fire Chief Alan Palomba. I’ve heard him speak before and I know you’ll enjoy him! As always, we’ll have snacks and prizes….Also, please contact me if you’d be interested in serving our neighborhood as a Board Member. We have several members cycling off the board this year and we need people to step up and fill the vacancies. We can’t continue our programs or be your voice at City Hall without your support. We need for all of you to become members of HPNA as well as to offer your time where you can. Membership is only $15 a year – it’s such a small price to pay to keep our association going. We have 1050 homes in our association and only a very small proportion of those residents are paid members. Please be sure to pay your membership dues at our January meeting or go online to complete a membership form (www.heightspark.com, and click on ABOUT); send your check to the address provided. This will be a very important time for our neighborhood to be strong – we’re working closely with City Hall to “fight the blight” surrounding our area so we need all the help we can get.
And the time commitment to serve as a board member is minimal. If you’d like to visit a board meeting just to see what happens, you’re always welcome. Board vacancies are: Vice President, Membership Chair, Social Chair, and Secretary. Board elections will be done at the January 21st meeting so if you’re interested in one of these positions or in just helping in some way, contact me and I can give you more details.
We’d also love to have Citizen Patrol Volunteers and Yard of the Month Judges. Please contact me if you’d be interested in participating in these programs and I’ll get you to the right person.
Thanks for your continued support – it’s vital that we keep our neighborhood association strong and vibrant, but we can’t do it without you.
I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and that your New Year is a blessed and prosperous one. See you on January 21st at our General Meeting.
