The City of Richardson will implement Stage 3 Winter Water Restrictions Friday, November 1, 2013. The modification follows guidance by the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which is facing critical shortages in its water supply due to below average rainfall, declining water levels of NTMWD reservoirs and the ongoing prohibition of pumping water from Lake Texoma due to a zebra mussel infestation.
The NTMWD is Richardson’s water supplier, and will monitor water supplies through the winter to determine the level of needed restrictions to take place after March 31, 2014.
The following schedule allows twice a month watering and is based on guidelines approved by the NTMWD:
Lawn Irrigation Schedule (Twice a month until further notice)
| 0,2,4,6,8 (Even)
||1st and 3rd Saturday (any time of day; as needed)
| 1,3,5,7,9 (Odd)
||1st and 3rd Sunday (any time of day; as needed)
As part of the Stage 3 Winter Water Restrictions, seasonal landscape watering is limited to Saturday for service addresses ending in an even number and Sunday for service addresses ending in an odd number beginning November 1, 2013. Landscape experts point out that lawns become dormant during winter months and require less water. Soaker hoses and drip irrigation systems can continue to be used for foundations, trees and other ornamental landscaping as needed.
No outdoor watering is allowed during times of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, etc.).
Excessive water runoff from any landscaped area onto any impervious surfaces is prohibited.
See the City of Richardson Website for more information.

In October, we have both a regular yard of the month and a “decorated” yard of the month winner. This our very first “decorated” Heights Park yard of the month — 718 Westwood:
What the residents at 718 Westwood had to say:
Thank you so much for choosing our yard for the first “decorated” award. We really enjoy watching the kids when parents let them out to see the ghosts. We moved here 25 years ago and have never regretted it – love the neighborhood, love the trees and love the people. We enjoy decorating for the holidays and steal shamelessly from other places we’ve seen. The idea for for the ghosts comes from an estate on Hunter’s Glen, right off Mockingbird and Preston – going south on Preston, take a left on Druid and it’s only a couple blocks down. They do a wonderful job at Halloween and Christmas – really a “Must See” if you have kids. Thanks again!
Clem and Danyce Uhlig (the oldest kids we know)
October: 710 Greenleaf
Is your yard a source a pride? A work of art? A labor of love? It’s time to receive some formal recognition for all those hours of hard work.
