Our next “Coffee with Cops” event will be held in Southwest Richardson at the McDonald’s restaurant at 120 S. Central Expressway on Friday, June 27th from 7am to 9am.

This is a new program for the Richardson Police Department with this upcoming event being our second such event.

The goal of these events is to enhance the relationship between the police department and the citizens they serve.

We do intend on holding these events on a monthly basis and will rotate the locations to various businesses (restaurants, coffee shops, donut shops etc…) throughout the city.

Citizens will have a chance to meet the Crime Prevention Officer that works in that area of the city and to answer questions or discuss any concerns they may have.

We look forward to seeing you there.

June 2014 Yard of the Month!

June: Becky Roberts, 620 Kirby

From the owners:

I’m thrilled to be chosen yard of the month. Shortly after I moved back to Richardson 4 years ago to my home on Kirby, my next door neighbor was chosen for yard of the month. I decided then I wanted to be yard of the month, too, one day. That day is here and I couldn’t be happier. My yard has been a process the last 4 years. Shortly after moving in, I did meet with a landscape architect to have plans drawn up for the yard. I am a 6th generation Texan so I wanted to incorporate lots of native plants like Lantana, Salvia, Mexican Feather Grass, Red Yuccas and a Magnolia Tree. The first year I also planted lots of annuals that needed a lot of water. After the water shortage, I’ve tried to stick to plants that don’t require constant water. I did plant a black berry bush/tree last year and thankfully, it now has berries. I put in stone borders with accents of boulders to help complete the natural look. I raised my family in Richardson and am so happy to be back here especially in this friendly neighborhood. I have really enjoyed my yard with my dogs and grand children, and it makes it even sweeter to receive the honor of yard of month! Yeehaw!
